I found this article while researching this topic in the comparison of charter schools and traditional public schools. I appreciate this piece and provided some of the facts in our presentation from it because it is truly unbiased. The title says it all; "A straighforward comparison of charter schools and regular public schools in the US". Caroline M. Hoxby does not take a side as to which type of school may be better but she does state the obvious; charter schools are still very new. The argument of charter schools against many long standing public schools is very real. Charter schools as a whole have shown more success on average. This does not mean that all charter schools will succeed or that they are better than every public school because it simply is not true. Furthermore most research done to compare the two schools is either biased or inaccurate based on the lack of longevity charter schools possess to provide proper evidence of success.
